-living a life of purpose
-has great faith in God
-loving son, caring brother
-the recipient of the legacy of music
-the boy who cried "Dog!"
-the sweet and charming byron
-the emotional gay (because i love emo bands)
-the music lover
-the lyrist
-a netizen of course
-a hardworking student during the eleventh hour
-the student who values basketball more than being alone in solitude
-the sporty chick
-the greatest love of all
-the founder of the Banana peeling Charcoal
-the boy who had grave miseries in mathematics
-the boy who put himself into trouble because of plagiarism
-but now...i'm changing...changing for the better and not for the worst...

Yes.....those are only few words that describe the name mentioned above...during the last days of my life in high school, the nightmare that haunts me is when I put myself in trouble when I plagiarized articles for our blog project...i was damn enough to see it as a mistake....but now, i really had it all...how i wish all will be doing good tomorrow during the deliberation..I am praying to God, asking Him for guidance during my apologetic ceremony during the deliberation..hope that the school will forgive me...but I know they will...my mistake was really unintentional...for all I did was to copy and paste...and forgot to cite the sources..but it was a grave mistake after all...and now I buried myself to the inner walls of sorrow and grief....for the decision will fully change my future..

back to the business, all I wanted for the batch to remember me is the friendship we had cherished altogether during our rocky high school life...we lived a life full of sweet and sour memories, yet we managed to end it all up with beautiful smiles on our faces...I want to remember me as the joker, the guitarist, the impersonator, and most especially, a friend that they could always treasure..they will always be forever in my hearts too...

during my first steps in my high school, we were all strangers to the eye of each other..but we managed to make it all for ourselves and existed what we all wanted it to be...

it was an honor to study at this prestigious state university...all those hectic schedules..the quarrels we had, the sweet moments and those happy times we've shared as a batch...we will never forget each other...

let us keep this friendship burning, until death turns this to ash

So long seniors...as we end the high school chapter...let us start the new beginning with us together..all united as one

one name says it all, ByrOn DouglaS

Loneliness...A falling Leaf

Yes, indeed my friends, poetry interpretation is one of the hardest things a student in English IV would always encounter. Its a difficult task, although our teacher always encourage us to do poetry interpretation and reading literature as our free time pastime. During my elementary days, such poems are easy to understand and interpret because they are too childish for our minds. But now, as I am exploring the hidden trails of language and literature through the efforts of our dear teacher, I've realized that poetry understanding is not a joke to be taken for granted. It is like solving a mathematical problem without the aid of a calculator or the aid of a given formula. Truly dreadful but challenging, I have learned to contain myself in poetry reading and understanding.

Like the poem above entitled "Loneliness", it is a very hard-to-understand poem example. The hardest part of understanding it is the positioning of the letters, because it both illustrates something that exists in the poem and it symbolizes something that also exists in the poem.

One great illustration is the letter "l" above the word "iness", it shows to the readers that the letter "l" is a lone figure in the poem, truly symbolizes the essence of loneliness. The word "one" also explicitly illustrates the loneliness described in the poem. For me, the poem merely shows loneliness in an indirect way. According to most of my batch mates, the poem structure also inscribes us the word loneliness. The phrase "a leaf falling" also gives us a better understanding of the poem. Leaf describes one leaf, solitary and alone. It is the only living proof that the plant is alive, because of the leaf symbolizes life of the plant.

The word "falling" plays an important role in the meaning of the poem, because the leaf didn't fell, for it is falling, struggling to hold on and resist the inevitable power of gravity. Eventhough the lone leaf is embraced by the thought of being alone in the wilderness, it struggled to hold on and staying alive clinging until the right time comes for it to fall on the ground, facing death and decomposition.

Anyway, the poem has a meaning for me. I, for example, is the leaf in the poem. I am falling because all of my fellow leaves have left me and yet added by the misery brought about by loneliness, but still I struggled to survive and cling for a living journey for the rest of my life.

The Look

Strephon kissed me in the spring,
Robin in the fall,
But Colin only looked at me
And never kissed at all.

Strephon's kiss was lost in jest,
Robin's lost in play,
But the kiss in Colin's eyes
Haunts me night and day.

-- Sara Teasdale

The poem tells us about the a situation wherein the author is involved on being loved by three different persons. She had shared her precious and loving moments with Robin in the season of fall, where tree leaves are dry and withered. She has showed Robin her true affection during the fall season. And as the withered trees turned into green, lively fresh leaves, she indeed shared another part of her love life with Stephon. Yes, she shared love again with another guy, Stephon. She damned her whole heart again with Stephon in the spring.

Again as her heart shifted for the last time, her earnest love didn't earn her a kiss, but one devilish mysterious look. She never showed wonder about the look brought by Colin, rather thought of the kisses she had with her two previous lovers. The kiss of Stephon was lost in a jiffy, Robin's disappeared in just a blink. But the look of Colin never disappeared even for an instant. This illustrates that one small, faint look of Colin had vanished all the memories contained with the kisses of Stephon and Robin. Indeed, all this time, the look of Colin has one big impact on the author.

For me, the poem is short but heavy. Heavy in the sense that the contrast of both the kiss and the look is an impoverished argument or a dainty situation to think about. The author is a great writer, in fact, she deserves to earn praise for such great poetry. All the words in this poem brought great impact for lovers who do not content themselves with a lone loved one. One mysterious look haunts you much longer than the time you've spent cherishing all your kisses.

On being taught by students....

The Know Your School Day or KYSD for short is one most memorable occasions in our high school life. It is an annual school activity wherein students are replacing the roles of the faculty members as teachers in the school. I was a participant during my first year, second and third year. I never had the chance to participate in my last year because of my hectic schedule. Yes, pressure's always on the last year of residence in UP High. But I've really enjoyed the roles as a SocSci teacher, Biology teacher and again a SocSci teacher. Exactly, very fun indeed. In fact, I've regretted a lot when I wasn't able to teach during my senior year. The teachers rest for about three days because their selected students will replace them as teachers. My experience during my teaching was fun and great, because it is really inspiring to stand on the platform and teach your fellow classmates about your lesson assigned to you. The class will see you as a teacher, but not as a student. I've felt how it feels to be a teacher and it is really a memorable and wonderful moment. You also have to share your knowledge also because you have to be also a model student teacher. It is also a great feeling wearing those ID tags labeled as teacher, not as a student. What a great experience.

On the other hand, being taught by students was also a great experience. Our student teachers were deserving on their posts, for they are really intelligent and teaching- oriented. The way the students feel about being a mentor is the same as what I felt as a mentor in the past too. The difference between a student teacher from a true teacher is that student teachers know the feelings and viewpoints of their fellow classmates. I really enjoyed having Michael and Jann as our Math teacher. Although we have to admit that Sir Basadre is much a better teacher, at least we knew that some future individuals can take his place. Truly wonderful, teaching experience during the KYSD is one of the most treasured events in our high school life.

The problem with Women is that....

wonder what bothers us most about our feminine friends?
well, let me just show you my opinions about the problem with women.

1. They are sensitive. Yes, I thought so. They easily get things strong for their feelings and emotions. For example, one time I told my female friend that girls are very intimidated about marriage and so forth. Unexpectedly, her main reaction was a shout saying " Who do you think your referring to?". Funny at first, but later I did realize that she was really mean in her words. She told me that not all girls are horny for themselves. See, just for my opinion she was really that sensitive.

2. They are numb as in manhid. Exactly, among the common instances are the love life situation. Girls, I don't know if they really mean it, but they don't readily appreciate the "sweet" things you've done unto them. when they feel that someone likes them, they act like curling horses in a drag race. Just one moment when I told my first crush that somebody loves her more than she had expected, she acted strange at first but later acted ordinarily, as if nothing happened. Maybe its just their natural way of revealing themselves, or should I say, defense mechanisms.

3. They talk too much. Perhaps, everyone ever noticed it. Most of their lines are mere nonsense. They talk too much. They don't even know that its really irritating to the ear. They will always talk like that, especially your close girl friends. They hardly notice the essence of noise either. Well, on the bright side of that annoying conversation, I really find it enjoyable talking to a girl with so much words to say. It is their asset, so I'm not in the position to judge them as noise carriers, but rather spices in our daily lives. Grrr...

4. They argue as if they know it all. During an argument between a boy and a girl, it is often noticed that the girl talks louder than the boy. yes, but its natural for that situation anyway. During an argument, most girls insists that their point is the one that is true, firm and concise. They tend to be more powerful than the boys, yes, its true in some instances. But sometimes, a girl in her arguments often commit mistakes, even if their point is untrue and unbelievable. But most of the time, such word-powerful girl wins the argument and ends it all with a sweet shaking of the hands or an unexpected kiss. How sweet!

5. They can hold hands with the same sex with no malice at all. yes, yes. This line is indeed a product of my envy towards girls. It is such a wonder that if girls hold hands together, nothing's wrong, but if boys do, its another story. Tsk, tsk, tsk. What a painful scenario. If I could only be a girl, then I can hold the hands of my crush for a very long time! Exactly, as if sky's the limit! hehe...but it's only a dream anyway...Well, this is such an opinion based on envy, not from a knowledgeable reason.

That ends it all folks...Hope you liked my suggestions...always remember that women is an essential part of our daily lives...they connect us together...without them...life is such a waste of time....

WheN banana PeelinGS useD to be waste....nOw as An energy soUrce....

Charcoal is one of the most used fuels in the country. It produces large amounts of heat at a very low cost. People using LPG in cooking are now looking into the use of charcoal since the prices of LPG is increasing. However, the use of wood as charcoal may contribute to the depletion of trees. Nowadays, there is an increase in pressure on forests as people cut down tress for firewood and other purposes.
Using other organic materials for charcoal may contribute to the prevention of the continuous depletion of our trees. The development of the use of banana peeling as charcoal is one way of finding an alternative to wood used as charcoal. The study,”The Effectiveness of the Banana Peeling Charcoal as a Substitute for Commercial Charcoal in Cooking Rice”, aimed to find out if banana peeling charcoal is a good substitute commercial charcoal in cooking rice.
The study compared the cooking time of rice using banana peeling charcoal and commercial charcoal in cooking. In obtaining the data for the study, two identical aluminum cauldrons with the same amounts of rice were simultaneously cooked. One used banana peeling charcoal and the other used the commercial charcoal.
The conclusion was that the banana peeling charcoal can be used as a substitute to commercial charcoal for it has more or less the same cooking time with the commercial charcoal.

Man: A Body, His Body

It is impossible to talk of human existence which is detached from a bodily existence, for human existence always implies a bodily existence. Man’s body is basically man’s expression of his presence to his fellowman in the world. Man’s body, therefore, is the immediate datum which gives man a primary consciousness of his own existence. In this case, man does not have just a body, but man is a body. In fact, man is his body.
In the context of its limitation, man’s bodily existence is an existence in time in a two-fold dimension. First, man’s bodily existence is confined to a particular beginning(birth) and an inevitable end(death). Second, a man’s bodily existence cannot occur in two places at the same time. At a particular time, man is situated in a concrete place and not simultaneously in another place. Thus, once man is “here”, man cannot be “there” at the same time. In a word, through his body, man’s existence is limited and incomplete.
Today, in the advent of the advancement of science and technology, the human body suffers a lot of manipulations. There is what called is called the scientific transformation of the human body. We heard a lot about cloning, surgeries and so forth. To consider the goodness or badness of these bodily manipulations, however, cannot be drawn in the Philosophy of Man or Philosophy of the human person since such an undertaking falls under Ethics or Moral Philosophy. Despite saying this, one can still insist that all these bodily transformations are good in the sense that they mean progress and development of man’s consciousness. However, all these scientific bodily manipulations remain man’s incapability to accept the truth of the finitude of his body.
The embodied subjectivity of man refers to the whole man as rational, affective and emotional.
